Complex Civil Litigation
Tomi regularly represents individuals, professionals, small to midsize businesses, and corporations through every stage of a legal dispute. Her experience is diverse, handling matters ranging from simple contractual disputes to defending allegations of breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, other business torts, and unfair and deceptive trade practices. Tomi has handled parallel matters for clients when a civil dispute extends into government agency investigations, bankruptcy matters, and other special proceedings.
Tomi is dedicated to communicating clearly, timely, and openly with clients to mitigate the stress of a legal dispute. Her strategy for resolution focuses on understanding a client’s ultimate goals and crafting an efficient solution to reach that goal. Whether that occurs through strategic litigation or a creative settlement, Tomi strives to negotiate the best outcome tailored to your individual needs or the needs of your business.
Tomi’s recent litigation experience includes:
Successfully defending two businesses in court-ordered arbitration, resulting in a full dismissal with prejudice.
Successfully defending a victim of identity theft accused of receiving funds from a Ponzi scheme and obtaining full relief from a six figure judgment.
Successfully representing a real-estate investment company defrauded by its CEO at summary judgment and through a bench trial, resulting in a six-figure award (including attorneys’ fees).
Tomi is also a member of the Western District of North Carolina Criminal Justice Act Training Panel where she represents indigent federal criminal defendants charged with felonies and facing severe sentences. Her work on the panel allows Tomi to take matters to trial while directly giving back to the Charlotte community.
